Game Day Recipes

A: Hosting a game day party can be overwhelming. One party foul you don’t want to commit is running out of food. Confirm how many people will be attending your party and provide one pound of food (not including drinks or dessert) for each adult guest and ½ pound of food per child. Don’t put out all the food at once to ensure that it lasts the entirety of the game. Start with snacks and drinks as the first guests arrive, and then put out appetizers and dips when the game starts. During halftime you can bring out the main course. Another way to ensure you have enough food (and to take some work off your plate) is to ask guests to bring their favorite game day foods. A fun way to get everyone involved and make sure there are no hangry fans.  

A:  The general rule of thumb is that perishable food should not be left out at room temperature for more than two hours because it can increase the risk of foodborne illness. Keep dips refrigerated until it is time to serve them. If you’re planning on leaving dips out during the game, it is best to serve over ice or cold packs to keep the dips chilled.  

A:  If you have leftovers, your guests will be happy to take them home! Plus, most foods can be stored in the refrigerator or freezer for a short time and eaten later.  

A:  Just because a recipe is easy, doesn’t mean it’s any less delicious than a more complex dish. Plus, it can minimize your time in the kitchen so that you can cheer on your team. Some of our favorite quick and easy game day recipes are nachos, dips, sliders and meatballs.
